Tim Smith serves as the leader of the Georgia Baptist Sunday School Ministires team. Tim has been with the GBC since 1999. Prior to coming to the GBC he served churches in Georgia and North Carolina. An interesting fact is that he graduated from high school in 1980 and that same weekend started on staff at his first church. Tim has earned degrees from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky; Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina; University of West Georgia in Carrollton, Georgia; and Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, Georgia.
Tim is a native of Georgia. He has been married to his wife Cathy since December 17, 1983 and they have two grown children and one grandchild. Tim love baseball, camping, fishing and reading.
Tim’s work with the SS/SGM is primary as the administrative leader which means he gets to deal with issues related to finances, staff, calendar, programming, etc. He serve as the coordinator for the Sunday School mentoring process as well as specialty conferences and assist churches outreach/evangelism through Sunday School and/or Small Groups. Tim serves as our connection with LifeWay and he seeks to network with pastors, ministers of education and Sunday School directors. Tim gets to do a lot of research related to growing/healthy churches and also leads our team in developing resources that will be helpful to churches.
