What happens when God’s people pray? If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14. ESV
2 Chronicles 7:14 is one of the verses Youth Bible Drillers memorized this year in Bible Drill. This verse along with the other verses they memorized help lay an incredible Biblical foundation in the lives of students across this state.
During a 9-month discipleship journey, Youth Bible Drillers learn 30 verses and develop Bible Skills that allow them to find books of the Bible in 8 seconds or less and know all the books of the Bible in order. High School drillers build on the foundation from Youth Bible Drill and memorize 6 verses in their Steps to Salvation section each year so that they are equipped to share their faith anytime, anywhere.
The second step in the journey is that they memorize 10 passages that reinforce their faith through the “What We Believe” section. The final section of verses the High School Drillers memorize are the Key Biblical Passages. These are six longer passages they commit to memory. This year’s list included The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12) and a Christian’s Armor (Ephesians 6:13-18).
On May 14 at Mountain Park First Baptist Church, the top drillers from around the state joined Student Speakers at the State Competition.
Elana Hudson from Union Baptist won first place in Youth Bible Drill. Ewing Wiley from Shirley Hills won 2nd place.
Elizabeth Beatty (a 9-year driller) from Shirley Hills Baptist Church won 1st place in the High School Drill. Kyle Brannen from FBC Monroe won 2nd place.
MacKenzie Ford from Crossroads Baptist Church won 1st place in the Student Speakers Competition. Tucker Skipper from Plentitude Baptist Church won 2nd place.
